Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
The Bengal BJP is holding a protest on Monday against Kolkata Mayor and senior TMC leader Firhad Hakim in Kolkata's Joka. They are demanding Firhad's resignation over his conversion of non-muslim remarks. On 3rd July, Firhad Hakim stirred controversy by deriding non-Muslims as ‘unfortunate’ and openly calling for their religious conversion to Islam.
The BJP workers were seen burning the effigy of Firhad Hakim outside the Borough office - 16 at Joka's Diamond Park. They are demanding Firhad's resignation if he does not apologize for his remarks. They even went on to trample shoes on the photo of the Kolkata Mayor.
Firhad made contentious remarks during the ‘All India Quran Competition’ event at the Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium in Kolkata. During his address, he claimed, “Those who were not born into Islam were born with misfortune. If we can give them Dawat (call for proselytism) and bring Iman (Faith) in them, then, we will make Allah happy.”
